Muladhara or Root Chakra
Muladhara is the root centre of our physical experience. The chakra and the energy of this chakra is located at the base of the spine. Here we are grounded. It is our foundation to the physical plane. Before we can move higher in our spiritual energy our basic survival needs must be met. We need food, water and shelter. Appropriately the chakra's associated animal is Ganesha, the elephant headed god. Ganesha is invoked to bestow protection and guidance over all undertakings. When we are well grounded and our base is strong we can begin to move upwards and enjoy and share our existence and our pursuits.
Asana for this Chakra
Tadasana is a first chakra pose as is Virabhadrasana, warrior pose.
